Ein is SO smart!!! (Very Funny)
Okay, so I knew corgis are very bright dogs. And I've read that they'll try and outwit you if they think they can, and I've seen Ein try. But last night, he totally outwitted us, and I didn't even know he was doing it until he had already won!
We got home late last night, around 12:30 am. Took the dogs out the bathroom, ate our dinner, and went to bed. It was around 1:30 when Ein started climbing all over us, covering us with kisses. His way of asking to go potty before bed. I knew there was no way he had to go again already, so I tried ignoring him and telling him to go to sleep. He laid down, when I told him to. On my chest or Lucas' chest. I finally gave in. Knowing that he wasn't going to let us sleep until I took him outside, I took him. Of course, Tucker and Colleen followed me out of the bedroom.
As always at bedtime, I stood on the porch to wait while Ein (on a retractable leash) went down the steps to pee in the grass right next to the porch. He stayed on the sidewalk. Wouldn't go on the grass until I walked down the steps and told him to 'go potty'. So he went into the grass, and played with leaves. Didn't even try to potty. So, annoyed at being made to get out of bed for no reason, I took him back inside. Went back into the bedroom, waited for Colleen to straggle in (she's always the last one in) and closed the door. It was then that we discovered Ein's master plan. You're totally not going to believe this.
Ein and Colleen both like sleeping on top of a comforter that we have laying next to the bed (it's there for this exact purpose). When we first went to bed, Colleen was laying on it. As soon as we got back in the house, Ein immediately ran to the comforter to lay on top of it, and shot Colleen an evil look.
That's right, he begged us to take him potty because he knew that Colleen would follow me out of the room, and he'd be able to have his favorite sleeping spot. He conned me into taking him outside so that he could steal the comforter from Colleen.
Never a dull moment with Ein around.

After seeing a shepherd come in with a gunshot wound: "You know we pretty much just paid for Ein all over again." (Pats him on the head.) "I'd do it again if he needed us to."
Lesson: Remember to take time to think about what's truly important. Oh, and give your pets a hug.
