feeding problems

I feed my 10 month old, 55 lb dog 1 cup of food twice a day, but she eats like she's starving. She can't be that hungry because she's not loosing weight, in fact she's a little chubby. What should I do?

Hiya Splash! Just wanted to tell you, I feed my bassett hound mix, Dutchy, that same amount. He weighs 52 lbs. Up until a year or so ago, I fed him more and he weighed a whopping 67 lbs.
He's always starving to death too My only suggestion would be to break her 2 cups a day into 3 feedings instead of 2 ... I used to feed mine once a day, and the vet suggested splitting it into 2 feedings so he wouldn't get hungry at the end of the day. Maybe getting a meal in the middle of the day would help her ?

Mystic Cat will become famous soon enough
My Jojo always acts starved! She just loves food so much! She don't even chew her food good. She would eat as much as i could pour in her dish! I only feed her 1 cup and 1/2 a day, in two seperate feedings a day. She had health problems from being over feed and gaining too much weight. So, no mater how hungrey she acts like she is, she still get the same amount a day.

Thanks guys! I just wanted to make sure I was taking care of my dog properly. I'll keep feeding her the same amount and try giving her 3 meals per day.

Manto acts like he's starving too! I feed him twice a day (7am and 6pm)...maybe that would help your doggie (breaking it up into 2 meals)?
