Fighting the imaginary evil...
So... tonight there is something horribly scary near Odie's food bowl... Odie knows it... Odie sees it... Odie is afraid of it... so afraid that he can't even eat his food... the problem is... I can't see it...
So he's been trying to reach the food bowl but suddenly runs away scared... looks at the area around the bowl and jumps back, makes another attempt to eat, but can only get a couple of bits of kibble before having to run away from the bowl. I go there, check everything... there's nothing... while I'm near the bowl he gets near to it, and eats as fast as he can. I get away from the bowl cause there's nothing, and he runs away from it, and starts doing it all again, adding sometimes some attempts to get the bowl closer to him using his paw but failing cause he has to run away... I go back to check... nothing... and while I'm there he's brave enough to get close to the bowl and eat...
so I had to sit by the bowl while he ate his food tonight.... Protecting him from the imaginary evil...

my cat fights the imaginary evil all the time too, it normally hides in the floor, or a blanket he runs around in a circle with his front feet and his head on the ground and flops over and takes a bath, his hair all messed up and static going crazy, he always is like oops caught.

Hmmm...thats strange! It could be a spirit or something,or maybe it is something else!
Did you try moving his bowl to another area? What about putting the food into another dish??? How were his reactions?

He sometimes barks and tries to hide from nothing... but it's always at different places... After the whole deal, he finished eating... and about 30 minutes later he was drinking water (which is right beside the food bowl) and there was nothing (to him).
We say it's a leprechaun... lol.. sometimes things happen... like I leave something somewhere and then I can't find it, and when I look again it's right where I leave it... or something falls to the floor and there was no way for it to fall... and we joke that it's the leprechaun playing jokes on us.. well... he also bugs Odie... lol

Haha, poor guy! He probably genuinely thinks there's something there.
My cat does that all the time. We have our doubts about his...sanity though

i won't get into the long of it....it's physics....short version: sound moves in waves, waves bounce off surfaces (like reflecting). waves meet at a point and can create a "mini speaker", like throwing your voice in ventriloquism. I've encountered it before and it's wierd. it happens near walls, alcoves and corners and cubbys. also remember their smell and sound senses are far far beyond ours. he could have heard a mouse chewing in a wall, termites, arguing from next door, you name it. also i give credence to the dog's sixth sense for emotions

My weiner dog started barking at the dishwasher once. We thought it was because she caught her reflection in the front panel. Couple of days later we found mouse droppings on the floor while sweeping. Caught it the next day and the barking stopped. She must have seen it wiggle through a crack by the dishwasher and we didn't. Our babies are so very smart, aren't they?
