foods for flakey skin

hi
we recently got ourselves a puppy yay!!! we love him to bits but he has really bad flakey skin he was on a "premium" food but that actually made it worse so we brought a supermarket brand a more expensive kind but not vet clinic kind.
our vet has advised us not to feed him anything but the dry biscuits because his tummy is not mature not cope with other foods, does anyone know of good shampoos or anything else we can use to help his skin?

I would use a shampoo with natural moisturizers in it. A natural herbal formula or an oatmeal-based formula. Walmart carries both kinds and I'm sure you could find both at a pet store as well.

My mom always used a capful of veggie oil or something like that. Being that your dog is still a puppy I would call and ask the vet first.

when my dog was a puppy he had dry falky skin and shed a whole lot I gave him 2 500 mg. of fish oil after a few weeks I noticed a big difference. also egg white can help the coat

Our dogs have flaky (dandruff) skin. Our vet told us to use oatmeal shampoo, although it doesn't really work for our dogs!

look for a brand of food with no corn, wheat, or soy. Allergies to these very common ingredients are very common, and generally cause skin problems. If possibly, a potato based food is generally better than rice for dogs with sensitive skin, but not necessary. My sister's dog had the worst skin condition, and we tried all sorts of special shampoos and medications. Right now, her skin is healthy, her coat is shiny and softer than it has ever been, and they haven't been giving her medicine, and haven't even bathed her since I last saw her, when her skin was awful. Diet is important.

my dogs eat a food with avocados in it and it has made their skin and fur 100% better...I also only give them baths with oatmeal based shampoos and I don't do it very often, my vet said not to give puppies alot of baths

If you want to try it, you could also use Johnsons baby shampoo on the puppy...its not harsh at all, we have used it on all of our dogs ever since they were puppies. You can buy conditioning kinds too...
