formula86, She is a cutie. I hope you can find her a good place to live. You are a very special person to take her in and take care of her. I hope the same happened to our Kellie. I will pray that you can get help with any vet care for her.

If she has blood in her poo or pee she might be seriously sick. i hope not. But that might be why she was so lethargic. Keep posting and let us know how she is. Good luck with her.

I hope everything turns out okay!

I would call the SPCA (Humane Society) everyday. My boyfriend found a dog while delivering pizzas. I called the SPCA early the next morning and some guy called me back within an hour to claim the dog. We took him back and turns out the guy only lived less then a block from the pizza shop my boyfriend worked at. The guy told us that he didn't even realize the dog was gone because he has a doggy door so the dog can go outside as he pleased.
I gave the dog back willingly and didn't say anything when the guy was talking to my boyfriend and the dog ran out in front of a car and was almost run over Apparently the guy lost a cat too.

Anyway I'm rambling. I think you are doing the right thing. I just think you should at least try to see if the dog has an owner first.

Really? That's what I was thinking.

Well, I put some flyers up. I couldn't stay out in that area too long cause it's dark and I was alone. But I'll have Jim put some more up. I've just been working non-stop (jewelry store right before mother's day...kill me).

So that's it so far. Like I said, I'll take her to the vet soon!!!

I think I have a better idea of where the little bits of blood are coming from. I'm still taking her to the vet! But here's my idea...

WARNING - some may find the following gross!!

I think the dog is on her period. I found some blood on the couch. So then I took a clean paper towel and put it on my finger, and I put just a tiny amount of my finger in her vajayjay (she didn't care). Out came a little blood clot looking thing...just like with us human females. So I'm thinking that's what it is. But she will still see a vet, of course!

Well, I put some flyers up, but the rain ruined them. So I have to wait for the weather to cooperate.

In the meantime, we named her Mia so we'd have something to call her. We're still feeling out the name, but that's what we've agreed on so far.

Oh, and one of our neighbors is a vet tech. So we're gonna get with him to see if he can help us out where he works with a payment plan or some discounts or something.

Ok, name update - we have decided to go with Callie. We just think it fits better. It was our other choice. So yah.

I will have to wait until next week to take her to the vet. Ugh! I just cannot get out of work. We have mother's day coming up. So, she seems really good right now, but I'm taking her asap. I promise!

We didn't hear anything from when the flyers were up. I am betting 95% we won't ever hear anything. She is well behaved in general, but I think she is naturally like that. She isn't the most potty-trained animal, and she paws at me a lot. Plus, the big nipples.

Speaking of nipples, I told Jim, when we were picking names, "We should name her Chi-Chi!" That's Spanish for boobies. I got the world's biggest glare. Hahahaha!

Aw shes a cute dog, she looks almost like my aunts dog Teddy, shes a chow/lab mix and the personality you described nearly matches her too!

I'm glad your at least trying to look for her home. when we were little we had a Doberman that would get out of the yard every time she went into heat.. and she would run and run until she would just collapse somewhere to cool off. So she could be someones pet that just got out. Was she pretty dirty when you found her? And as for the nipples being a swollen, Davids parents have a beagle who's nipples swell up quite a bit when shes in heat. not as much as in those pictures, but they did have his mom worried the first time it happened.

I think she has some black on the back of her tongue. Weird.

Well, like I said, we put flyers up, but no luck. Plus, the rain washed off the print from them after one night.

She was dirty when I got her, but not like, covered in mud. But she was pretty gross. She also had a tic on her head. I think she's on her period, but is that when they are in heat? Wouldn't it be between periods? Cause a period means the uterin lining is flushing out.

I just have no idea if she has owners. I am going to leave messages on the answering machines of the SPCA and vet clinics in a minute. I just keep working all day and don't get off in time to call them when they're open.

I am going to guess she is not someone's dog. She isn't that potty trained, she isn't spayed, she didn't even have a collar (much less tags), and she had no idea what a street was. She was just wondering in it, clueless. I would assume any decent owner would tell their dogs "no" when it goes in the street (at least a few times). So I don't know.

Oh, I have a question -
She does this whining thing every now and again. We'll just be sitting there, no paying attention to her, and she'll let out some whines. She can be just sitting or on her leash outside. I don't know if it means "I miss my family" or if it means "pay attention to me." She doesn't do it when we are paying attention to her.

I believe, not totally sure, but i think they ovulate right after or near the end of there bleeding.. but some females will accept males before then (since sperm can sometimes survive a few day)
