Fur balls?!

Does anyone else's dog vomit up large amounts of fur? He is brushed on a regular basis, but that doesn't seem to be slowing the fur eating any. His vet thought that maybe he's allergic to gluten. Know of any gluten free dog foods? I was thinking of trying Veggidog and making the food myself.

I can't offer any opinion on the hair...but Natural Balance (by Dick Van Patten) has several dog foods without wheat, so assuming it's wheat gluten that's the problem that might help. My parents have their Westie on the vegan formulation because she has meat and wheat problems, but they also have several other formulations. They will send you samples and coupons if you send them an email.

The change in Sassy was amazing when they switched her to this food...prior to that she constantly had loose stool and scratched like mad.

Their website is www.naturalbalanceinc.com and it contains contact information, as well as a description of all their products.

Good luck.

Thank you, I will email them and try them out. At first we were blaming the fur balls on the cat, but once we saw it in action, figured it out. Cat does not have furballs at least.

Are you going to have your dog tested for allergies? We recently went to the Vet to have Elvis Lee tested for food & environmental allergies due to his chewing his hair and his feet. Cost $250 but worth it to find out what our baby is allergic to. I'll let you know when we get the results.

The vet just told us to try switching his food.
