Get rid of unwanted dog smell

My Best friend jsut moved into a house whos previous owners had dog a dog. The upstairs kind of has this familier smell of dirty dog/ dandruff, as well as dog pee. The previous owners swear that she steamed and shampooed the carpets but it still really smell like a dog, (i think it had skin problems). any suggestions?

Maybe try adding a little bit (just a little) of vinegar to the shampooer. It does tend to help pull out the odor. It doesn't smell the greatest, but it works pretty well.

Also, you could try some febreeze.

If it's been there a long time, it may be soaked into the padding....so she may have to replace the carpets.

Yep, I was thinking the same thing Lizz. If it's really bad, it could have soaked through the padding and into the wood underneath.
