Well, Friday afternoon my Mom & I will be adopting a greyhound!

I'm very excited! Now that my mom's friend has taken his big lab back, our
lab mix doesn't have anyone her own size! Poor thing is stuck with two bossy pugs, not even a quarter her size!
Well, we really wanted an older fixed female dog of medium size. Who was fairly calm, with a gentle temperment. My mom saw an add in the paper about a "rescued" free, fixed grey hound. We called up and talked to the foster family and she sounded like the perfect match for us! My mom went to see her this afternoon and fell in love!
She is a "beautiful" (according to my mom) black greyhound with white spotting. The poor thing has lived a pretty rough life too. She is now 6 years. She started her life by racing at the race track, then she was bred for a while, and then finally she was taken by the Vetrenarian University and kept in a kennel & donated blood. Her foster parents were graduated vet school students (married couple), and are now moving back home. They've only had her for a few weeks, and were really looking to place her in a new home quickly. So we get her Friday afternoon! My mom says she's real timid so I know she'll need time to adjust. Our lab mix hid under the coffee table for about a week when we found her on our doorstep as a puppy.....so timid dogs are nothing new to us! I just can't wait to meet her myself!
So, anyone else out there have grey hounds that would like to add their experiences? This will be our first grey hound so I'm a lil nervous....But Bo (the dog) had all the qualities we were looking for & we couldn't resist adopting her!
