The vet did give us a name of the supposed owner but there has been no luck in tracking him down this far. The last records the vet had was in Flordia about a year ago.... Yes shipping pet's overseas can be expensive, however it depends which airline, country, ect.... It only cost us $400 to ship the dogs and cat over and we weren't required to do a USDA form, we just needed updated shots, rabies and a health certificate. It's a shame because if by chance the tags were switched the real "zeus" could still be in Florida, we are just baffled by this.
Thank you all for your wishes

People dump for all sorts of reasons. Most popular here is because they are moving and can't/don't want to take the animal with them. Its very possible that the owner at the time had the money to bring him over and then after being there no longer had money to bring him back and needed to go back home. Maybe he had an emergency and had to go somewhere or even just went on vacation leaving his dog under the watch of someone else and the dog got out. You would think that these people would be frantic looking for someone elses dog but lots of times they don't know what to do or where to go for help. Or they are idiots that just think the dog will come back on its own and never look. I have seen many dogs and cats dumped because of medical reasons and other dogs dumped because they are aggressive (I know real smart leaving an aggressive dog roaming the streets). At this point at least the dog is safe and I hope there is good news on those tests.

To me, he doesn't appear to be but maybe a year to a year and a half at most and maybe 65-70lbs

He definitely isn't 90 lbs... He does seem to be younger than 2 years but there are so many lines of GSD's that even if he's a purebred, he may not have the classic GSD look, ya know? But IMO, he looks younger than 2 yrs old.

Hmmm.... very odd.

Dena I fully agree with everything you said, and I pray he wasn't dumped either....
Chrisanne and Jodi I think he is under 2 years of age he just has a very puppyish look to him (hard to tell in pics). This is getting more confusing by the minute, "Zeus" has 2 rabies tags on his collar which would indicate that he would be over a year old right? Well the last known record the florida vet has was a year ago, which would indicate him to be at least 2 or older and IMO this dog is not who the vet thinks it is......I really don't like these situations, we are trying to do what is best for the poor little guy and yet it just seems more brain rattling.... Hopefully we will know the results of his test by tomorrow night no later than Thursday morning and maybe then we can figure it all out in a better light providing the tests are negative.

I see the puppy look in those pictures too Kim. I'd be money he isn't 2, truly he looks to be less than one to me but like Jodi said with all the lines out there i was thinking older for that reason. You never know.

Thank You Melissa
Chrisanne, both Darren and I were thinking he might be about 8-12 months old, but yes like Jodi said with so many different lines out there, it is hard to know.
He is such a friendly little guy, this morning I took him out of the bathroom to place him on the living room patio for the day and he was just hopping and jumping around having a good ole time. I got one of the many tennis balls out of the drawer and took it out to him in hopes of playing with him for a few and the poor thing is afraid of the ball, I have never seen a dog run and hide so quick .... fingers crossed we get the results tonight, if not should be tomorrow morning.

That is just so heart-breaking to hear. Reading that really makes me wonder about his past now. No dog should be scared of something like a tennis ball unless he has bad memories from the item in the past.

It really is wonderful that he's in your care now.

I agree that something has made him fearful like that, and we've also noticed he is afraid of Men. When Darren is around Zeus he tucks his tail and runs, and if I'm out there he runs towards me, however depending on tests results it will be something worth working through
