So my foster Pepper went to her new home last night and Beagle Paws just brought over my new foster Andy.

He was a hunting dog,but thats all that is known about him.And he is about 5-6 yrs old.

I just got him,so I don't know what he is like yet...but he doesn't seem very cuddly.Also he isn't following me everywhere like all of my fosters do! I know he just got here,but even on the first day...my foster's follow me! He is my first male foster,I have always had females...so maybe girlies are just more needy and cuddly! Either way,he is cute.He is also pretty quiet.He is out in the living room and not whining or barking.

Anyway will have pictures a little later.

He looks like a great dog, and will make someone the perfect pet! He does look just a little overweight though no? I'm not real familiar with beagle weights, but he just looks a little chunky :p I wonder about him being so quite, perhaps the hunting training?

He is stocky.He is actually not too overweight,maybe a tiny bit.But he is just a really stocky beagle.He has big paws too!!

He was a hunting dog,but so far has not bothered with my small animals.He did sniff at their cages,but now he is out in the living room again.He will not jump on furniture and is not cuddly! Then again he was always outside in a little kennel,so he don't know the luxury yet.

He smells too,so I am going to have to bathe him soon.

awww no cuddles? give him time. i've found that kinda being the assertive one helps show them what you're about. right now he's getting used to every nook and cranny, smells and sounds. if you sit on the floor and hug him, i doubt he'd mind. lots of rubs and scratches and he'll turn right around, he's probably not used to it.

Thats true.Unfortunatly hunting beagles in Newfoundland get the short end of the stick and they are the most abused,neglected and abandoned breed in this province.So he probably never got hugs or anything.

He does enjoy being petted though!
He is asleep now.

yeah, I was going to say, here hunting dogs aren't always treated like pet dogs. They are working dogs. I think though with some time he'll learn to love the cuddles... Either that or he's just like that and he'll be the perfect dog for some non-cuddly person!

Aww he's cute. I love beagles! Maybe in time he will start being cuddly..But then again I've only known a couple beagles that have ever been cuddly. Maybe it's a hunting dog thing?

I am glad he is with you, you will be able to show him what love is all about

in no time at all you will be telling us hes turned into a cuddle bug lol

Here most people treat their hunting dogs really really well, they are so spoiled...but when I lived in Washington they were always kept in kennels, Kens brother in-laws got 2 hunting dogs, they are family members, he says they do a better job then most cause they want to make him happy and get the ball reward lol...

I have been with Beagle Paws for over 4 yrs now and ALOT of them are very cuddly dogs,once they realize not everyone is bad or mean.Some come in and are so scared or neglected that at first they are not cuddly,but they eventually warm up.

Andy is the only foster I have had so far that wasn't cuddly.Altho a few minutes ago I was giving him some love and he liked it,because when I stopped petting him,he moved closer to me.He wouldn't come up on the couch with me tho.But it is a start!

Haha...it sis snow a few nights ago and a little bit today,but it was wet snow...so it didn't stick around!
