homemade dog food

does anyone out there make their dogs food themselves. reggie has been battling diarhhea all week--he's doing better now, i recently switched to nutro b/c we found out how cheaply made iams was and weren't happy. but i was doing some more research about exactly what a balanced dog diet should contain and i think nutro is lacking too. the problem is that i'm not sure where to find all the stuff i need for the recipe and it looks kind of complicated and expensive (a 50lb dog needs 12ou of meat a day) now i am not saying reggies illness has come from his food. he gets into the garbage sometimes and lord knows what else and from what i've read diarrhea is often a case of mild food poisoning from those exact things. just wondering what peoples opinions are and what others do as far as feeding their pups? i know there was a thread about what brands people use before (it's what convinced me to switch to nutro) but that's not exactly what i'm looking for, unless you have a suggestion for a better brand than nutro.

I feed Innova which is a really good food and my dogs do really well on it . Wellness and Chicken Soup are nice brands too.

Yes the Chicken Soup for Dog Lover's Soul is an excellent source of nutrition. I use it for my cats and dogs both and they thrive on it. My cats had issues with vomiting and diarhea also but since switching there has been no more digestive problems.
