homemade doggy biscuit recipies

good morning

I'm always looking for treats for my puppy that are holistic (no preservatives, no fillers, no byproducts). I came across a few recipies for homemade doggy biscuits and tried two of them this week. I tweeked the recipies a little, made up two big batches & brough them with us this week to Elvis Lee's obedience class. They went over well with all the puppies in his class. Elvis loves them too. They are nice & hard so they are good for their little teeth. I'm sure older dogs would like these too. Make sure your furbabies sees you baking for him/her. lol

both recipies require 350 degree oven, 25 minutes baking time, turn off oven after the 25 min & leave biscuits in cooling oven until they are "bone" hard. both recipies, mix dry ingredients, add the wet ones, roll out to 1/4" thickness & cut out with a bone shaped cookie cutter...add a little extra milk or flour if dough is too dry or too sticky.

cinnamon doggy biscuits

2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup quick oats oatmeal
1/2 tsp yeast
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
dash of allspice and / or nutmeg
4 tbs honey
4 tbs cooking oil
2 eggs
2/3 cup milk

beef & cheddar doggy biscuits

2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup quick oats oatmeal
1/2 cup cornmeal
1/2 tsp yeast
2 packets of low sodium beef broth
2 tbs honey
3 tbs cooking oil
1 eggs
1/2 cup water
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (maybe a little more)

let me know if you try these & if your furbabies like them. I have 6 other recipies I'll try in the future & if they are good, I'll pass em on.

have a great weekend.

If you come across any that are "gluten" free let me know as in the past I have had dogs allergic to wheat and corn. Also I use an egg substitute from the Health food store in any baking I do for myself and the furbutts. Just in case anyone has one with egg allergies.

I tried the beef and cheddar and my dogs loved them, in fact they smelled so good making them my husband almost ate them. If you have anymore that would be great, I have a dog with allergies and natural pet treats are expensive.

Yes, it's a shame that the better quality natural treats are expensive, that's why I'm experimenting making my own.

I'll try a few more recipes & pass them on if they are any good. Your husband could have nibbled on one or two cause they are made with "people food" ingredients.

I must confess, I tasted a tiny corner of each kind Before I gave them to my puppy. LOL
