How do I stop dogs from peeing on my plants?

Hi

I live 1st floor of a highrise building in a busy city. People are constantly walking thier dogs around my block and freely let them urinate on the plants directly outside of my patio. I have tried to ask them nicely to please take thier dogs elsewhere to do this, but they seem to think they have a right to do this since they live somewhere in the building.

I am wondering if there is anything I can spray or put on the plants that would make the dogs peeing on my plants. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. I have looked at many different products in the pet stores, but have no idea what brand to buy or if any of them even work. I am sick of smelling dog urine everytime I walk out of my front door. It's getting really bad. Please help!

This may seem old school...but we used to fill milk jugs with water and tie a string from one jug to another around our garden. I had also had one friend use an herb plant to keep her dogs from urinating and digging her house plants...you may wanna do a search. I will look it up. you could also post a sign if it is allowed where you live. Good luck.

Um, I would be calling the cops. Just me though...

Do you own the plants or are they the building's plants? If they are yours, then those people are destroying private property. If they are the building's, you could try and talk to the management of the building about talking to the residents or letting you post a sign.

I hope it gets worked out. That's so rude of them!
