I feel like a bad puppy mom!
I've had my puppy for 2 weeks now and she's still name less! I don't think I've ever gone this long without naming a pet. I was going to name her Echo because I love the name and it seemed like a pretty neat name for a deaf dog but everytime I call her that it just doesn't seem natural. I've thought about naming her Riley because she's always "riled" up and wanting to play. She kind of looks like a Riley and it's also a strong female name which I like.
She already has a few nicknames. My mom calls her Tu Tu (don't ask!) and one day when my mom was sneaking her treats I told her to knock it off or else the puppy would get fat. I said "I don't want a tubby tu tu!" and we both started laughing hysterically. So now my mom jokes around and calls her Tubby Tu Tu.
Jeff calls her Mini Me, Baby girl, and devil girl. I've been calling her Pony Girl because she's scared to death of the horses.
Is it possible to have a nickname when she doesn't even have a real name yet?

awww scarlette hugs to you!!
Sometimes my pets go a while without names. You just have to find that right one that just "clicks"
Gazoo didn't have a name for about 2-3 weeks.

LOL... we went through that with one of our dogs... Maximus.
NOTHING sounded good enough for him. Nothing was different enough or strong enough or respectable enough etc etc etc.... for reasons unknown suddenly Maximus sounded good which was funny because it's such a popular name for a rottweiler... but Max it was and Max it stayed all of the way to the end ...
Sometimes it just takes relaxing about it for a while when suddenly something "sticks".
Echo was my Military Macaw's name so I of course like that...but I'd have to agree it may be a bit difficult with a dog...
For what it's worth... when I imagine a deaf female dog I think of the name Serenity as it often stands for a silent peaceful situation.... As far as English names are concerned it's common to call someone Serina as a varient of Serenity...
It'll come to you... give it all of the time it requires because once the name sticks...it's stuck

Awww! ((hugs)) girl! Don't worry about not having a name yet! The right one will come to you. It took me awhile to name some of my animals, too. You just want them to have that *right* name. I can't wait to hear what you decide!
Aww Tu Tu!!!!!!!!

Aww. But I LOVE Echo!
What ever you decide to call her, even if it ends up being... er... "Tubby Tu Tu" ...It'll be just right.
You're a good puppy mommy. Don't you kid yourself into thinking otherwise!

Sometimes finding the "right" name takes a lot of time! A friend of mine didn't name her son until he was almost a year old (the deadline was coming up for filing the birth certificate! You have until their 1st birthday in Michigan to file it, don't know about other states though)
I DO like Echo, but maybe Chaos would be good too! Since she's so playful and everything! Hmmm...should we start a thread of good female dog names to help you along? Maybe you will see a name and picture her?
Or, you could do what another Bull Terrier owner did on Animal Planet...Pick out a bunch of names, put them in a hat and whatever name she eats first will be her name? I saw that and fell over laughing!

Oh yes you can!! According to the State of Michigan, and since you are indeed in Michigan, you have that right! You also have till their first birthday to file for their Social Security Number/Card as well

YUP! Like I said, my friend waited until her son was almost a year old! Now, since Brandon was a water birth baby and born at a Natural Childbirth and Gynecology Center instead of the hospital, I was also given the paperwork to fill out for the birth certificate...I filled it out at the Birth Center, but due to laziness, didn't file it till he was 10 months old...

How about Shanti? It means "quiet, peace, tranquility" in Sanskrit. She may not be quiet but she sure lives in a world that is quiet and peaceful, to her anyway.
Pax the Goddess of Peace?

Give some of those a try. I hope you find a name for her soon
