Indy is being castrated

OK...
Finally he is getting the snip.
I was just wondering what will happen to him?
He goes in Thursdsay morning and comes out in the evening.
What will they actualy do to him, how long will it take to recover, will his moods change.
I am so worried, he is gonna be so upset when we leave him as he howls when I do my papers and Maria is in he house or if Myfanwy goes outside for a wee and he is in the house.
will he have stitches that need taking out? Should the vets give me painkillers or do i have to ask them?

It's a pretty common surgery. He will be mopey the first day, but should be fine after that. You'll have to keep him less active for a few days.

There will be some residual swelling for a few weeks after, but it will go down in time. They actually go in and remove the testicles.

Its hard to say how it will effect his moods. Most likely it won't at all.

Oh poor Indy, he is not going to know what hit him! It is for the best though, as male pets definitely are nicer when they have been done..

I'm sure Indy will do fine.

As for mood changes, he MIGHT get calmer but that's only an if.

As for the painkillers, it seems in Finland they are not usually given so if you feel he may need them, you'll more than likely have to be a little pushy about it.

With Gerona I was given painkillers but I wasn't given any for Galina. I wish I would have gotten some for Galina, because while she wasn't showing signs of being in pain, they would have made her a little sleepy and it was hard trying to get her to take it easy for a few days.

Keep us updated on him!

Keritsubo will become famous soon enough
he'll come out fine. I have a friend who says 'yup get 'im snipped. now he'll grow a brain!" but that may only count for stud horses.
