Well, last weekend as some of you remember me saying, Kirby was going to the Samoyed Specialty dog show in Piikkiö.
He did okay. He didn't place, but he was rewarded the red ribbon, which stands for "very good." On his evaluation form, the judge wrote that he had the perfect head for a Samoyed, great coat texture and colour, great build, etc. The problem? She wanted him to look more "noble" and have "more energy" when he ran.
Well, the first problem of him looking more "noble." Kirby was the last dog in line and there were 12 other dogs a head of him. By the time it was his turn to be judged, he was
bored. There is no way to make a bored Samoyed 'perk up.' When they are bored, they let you know it! So, it was something that couldn't be helped.
The second problem of Kirby not having "more energy" when he ran was that he was
tired! Why? Well, the day before, Kirby and I walked 8.5 miles to the swamp in Riihimäki. So, it's my fault he was all pooped out!
But, all in all, this was a good practise show for Kirby and I felt he did very well considering he hasn't been to a show in over
2 years!

Taken when Kirby first entered the ring--he was still willing to look "alert" and "noble."

Kirby starting to get bored ... and you can
see it, too.
