Loving Dog Too Much

This morning I read article on love of dog too much. It is short piece, I would like you to read and tell what you think:

http://slate.msn.com/id/2098359/

To be honest, I think that even though person may love dog too much, is WRONG to let dog take effect or control of your life. I do not like it when some person obsessing (hope is right word!) so much over dog of that person that it take away from them as human person. Dog is very important, and Dirk really love the dog, but it should not affect you as person who do the function everyday. You live life of you, let dog live life of dog. Is the way is suppose to be. Just my opinion.

I think everyone is different. Personally, our dogs are a big part of our family, and we don't mind making sacrifices for them. Like, if we try to plan a weekend away, but can't get a sitter, we reschedule, the same as you would have to with a child. The joy they bring to our hearts and home are worth it! Our dogs don't control our lives, but they are a loved part of them. A good example was our businesses Christmas party. It started at suppertime, and around midnight-1am, I told my husband I was going to go home to let the girls out. I wanted to go back, and other people told me to come back, but if we just run in and let them out and leave again, it upsets them, so I stayed home. I just felt that them not being upset was more important than drinking more! Yes, they effect our day to day life, but to me that's part of the commitment of having a pet and i wouldn't trade my puppies kisses for all the freedom in the world!

I don't know. I'd say whatever works for each individual. We have five dogs at my house and I love them all beyond belief. We do plan our activities around them, but its for their safety and well being. Since they can't take care of themselves, it is our job to do so. My dogs would not "replace" my husband or children, but they are just additional children in our home. Lovingly referred to as "the four legged kids"

Like Chrisanne said, our dogs are like another family member. Just like a child. Someday when I do have skin children, I wont love my dogs any less. They are a huge part in mine and Joshs life. I couldnt imagine not having them. They really complete our family. I really dont think you can love your dog too much...dogs live for love, and thats all you have to give them to make them happy. So it works out perfectly if you want a forever companion. I love my dogs like crazy and I would do anything for them, just like I would for my husband, or a child. Thats just the way it is

KaiyasMom will become famous soon enough
I can't think of my dog as a dog . . . . we call her our "two year old stuck in a doggy suit" . . . we always say the zippers just broken and she can't get out!! I love her all to pieces. We plan things around her as much as we can, sometimes it's slightly annoying but she's worth the extra effort!!

I total agree with what evry one say here. I too love my dogs and jack puppies more than any thing in the earth. However, I am old enough and sensible enough for me to know that there is a line. You see some people, they are CRAZY, dressing dog in wolly sweater, treating dog like human, a dog is dog. They are an animal, the best thing you can do for dog is to provide as much of a natural state, how you say surronding/envirnment for dog as you possibley can. Some people just push it too far where it not only total control life of human but also dog life is controlled, and that (I think) is upsetting. Once again I say sorry for my poor English. I will get better!

I agree with Dirk and everyone else. I love my dog a huge amount and she is my child....if I'm really busy for a few days and can't give her much attention my mum will come and take her for the day so that she gets loving. I always have sitters organised for my animals....cause all my dogs have been from resuce shelters putting them into a boarding kennel seems to cruel. On the other hand I won't leave a party early for them or not go somewhere to be with them. If I'm not home at their usual feeding time, we'll they wait (I'm talking about all my animlas now) My best friend gets annoying at times cause she has to feed her rabbit at the same time each day and she will leave when you are in the middle of something important to go home to her rabbit. That bugs me at times...
I remember once this woman was living with her bf and he wouldn't go anywhere cause he refused to leave the dog at home by itself so they couldn't even go to the movies together cause dogs can't go to the movies. she rang up the radio asking listeners for their opinions cause she was going to leave him if he didn't change and she wanted to know if she was being unfair. It was even to the point in her case where she couldn't cuddle up to her bf on the lounge cause the dog got to do that and she had to sit on the other lounge. I love my animals more than anything and I always say I have five children and I want to give them the best life possible but you have to draw the line somewhere.

And Dirk your posts are understandable so don't worry about your english too much!
