My good deed
Yesterday on the way to work, I saw a beautiful rottie sitting by the guardrail of a pretty busy road, and not really too near any house. I pulled over and was calling it to see if it was hit or injured, but because it was a strange and big dog, I didn't want to approach it. I mean it could have been sick. So because AF is coming I cried the entire way to work and only calmed down long enough to contact the local police to see if they could help it. I am hoping to call back today to see if they found it and if it okay. I felt so bad, when I called to it and made noise it just laid there. I mean just typing this out now it is really breaking my heart all over again. Ray says it is why i don't work at an animal shelter. Dena, I don't know how you do it!

Aww Capn! What you did is perfect if he wasn't getting up it very well could be that he was hit by a car and many times dogs with snap when they are injured. There are lots of people that do the same thing we have had several cats come in very ill or injured and the people that call up to check on them find out that they had to be put down. I try to explain that they still helped this animal immensely, you kept the animal from suffering in severe pain until it died. Who knows maybe the dog you found was just in time and will be perfectly fine and the stupid owner that let him out like that with get a big fat "Running At Large" fine and some other little fines to go along with it.

Awww, Capn, you did the right thing. Plus like Dena said, if it was injured, they have a tendacy to snap at anyone that approaches. You don't want to put yourself in that situation either, but that you took the time to contact someone about the dog, that is great... good job, girl!

Capn That must have been so upsetting. You are so compassionate and caring - you did the right thing. You helped that dog and I hope they find the owner and like Dena said, give them a hefty fine.
Good job - you are awesome

You did the right thing. You never know about a strange dog. I hope he's ok, and you too.

I called the police department today, and the woman that answered told me the guys that went there were not available and she did not have any information. She told me to call back tomorrow morning. I feel silly worrying about it, I just hate to think it was laying there in pain.
Thanks for the confidence on doing the right thing guys, I just felt bad. I still do, i wish i could have petted him/her and told him it would be okay you know? I am not going to cry again! Thanks guys! I just keep thinking of him and wondering what happened to him. I hope he isn't hurting anymore.

Awww capn you did the right thing and did the best you could. I hope he/she got rescued and made it in time. And yes, bad karma will come to those people who let him lose.
