Name help?
What would you name a female sable and white collie?
Her current name is Tippy, which I do not like. Lucas is being difficult. Ein is named after a Pembroke Welsh Corgi on an anime series called Cowboy Bebop. Tucker's name was given to him by animal control- I thought it was a cute name and he looked like a Tucker, so we kept his name.
Lucas is insisting that all of his dogs must be named after cartoon dogs (except Tucker because I wanted to keep his name). Apparently some cartoon he used to watch had a collie named Colleen. He is insisting that if we are able to adopt Tippy, we name her Colleen.
Two problems:
1. Colleen the Collie is just too cutesy for me.
2. I don't care for the name Collen.
Can you think of any other names that would be good for a Collie?

wow, that's a tough one...too bad he's being so strict about a name....
I can't even think of any cartoon dogs. I only watched toons as a kid. Pluto is a dog right? I know there were dogs in bugs bunny etc but I have no idea what the names are. Rhen & Stimpy are dogs? Does Bart Simpson have a dog? Underdog was a cartoon dog but not a good name for a pet.
Girl names I like for a dog are:
Chloe
Princess
Lorelei
Bella
Haylee
Good luck finding the right name.

She's OURS!!!!
It doesn't necessarily have to be a cartoon dog. I'm just looking for a name that sounds like it "fits" a collie, and hoping he'll accept it as an alternative.

The lady hasn't seen the sign yet, as she's dropping her off on Thursday. I guess what I should've said is we've been approved to adopt her.
It still remains to be seen if I can explain away the sign. I'll make sure to tell you all what happened at the end of the week.

lassie??-kidding,kidding all the names i like have to do with nascar and if you are not a fan then they won't help. i always wanted a pair of big dogs that i could name talladaga and daytona and a little dog named bristol (the super speedways and one of the short tracks) i really like bristol even if you are not a fan although i guess that could be too masculine. how about sunshine or sunny since she is lighting up your life. those remind me of birds though. how about daisy?? i love that name and it's my favorite flower and one of my cats name. yep i vote daisy.

I've asked Lucas a dozen times since we met on our lunch breaks yesterday, "Are you REALLY go to make me name her Colleen?" Every time, he goes, "Colleen!" I finally said, "Okay, she'll have 2 names. You call her Colleen and I'll call her something else." His response, "No. Colleen."
I don't know if I am going to win this one, but I sure will try.

Sorry, it's in another thread that I had called "collie fever" where I was talking about wanting the dog, but waiting to see if the foster approved us. We were approved, but we completely forgot that the wife trailer park owner has a "no dogs" sign up. No body follows it and tons of people have dogs, and we've lived there for over a year now, so I don't really even notice it anymore. Lucas pointed it out to me, because I'm blind to it.
Basically what we were told when we moved in was that they don't want dogs being kept outside unsupervised and then don't want dogs outside with no leash. So we could keep Ein (who was a year old when we moved in) as long as we followed those rules. But she was allowing us to keep him "by the goodness of her heart" because they normally don't allow dogs. This woman is a true dictator (odd because her husband is soo nice). She basically set out all kinds of rules for us and acted like we were party animals because we were young. She said we could only have one dog and if we got a second, there's no way we could hide it. She'd find out and kick us out.
We quickly discovered that other people had 2 dogs. So we waited until we had proved we were good, responsible people. And 5 or 6 months ago, got Tucker. The husband has seen him, many times. And no one has said anything to us. (Excpet the old lady who lives across from us. She says often that her sons always had dogs growing up and she misses them, so she loves seeing Ein and Tucker.) I know a 3rd dog is pushing it, but we have been talking about a collie for so long. If we could've found a collie 6 months ago, we wouldn't have Tucker. So when a collie becomes available a few miles away-with a $25 adoption fee, we're going to take it. Rules or no rules.
We are looking at different options to buy our own property, so if she asks Tippy to leave, we'll move and take all the dogs with us. We don't like the wife's attitude or their values (they bought somebody's trailer from them because they were moving and wanted to sell the trailer to a black woman. She didn't want any black people in the trailer park. So they bought a trailer they don't want and don't need). We have been wanting to move out for awhile. Lucas got a raise a few months ago, and I got one yesterday, so buying land is a definite possibility. Our trailer cannot be moved without risking damage due to it's age, so as soon as we get a copy of the title, I'm going to go talk to the landlord about our options for selling it and moving out. (Title is an odd story. We bought the trailer right before Hurricane Katrina. Mortgage company says the mailed it to us, but we never got it. Our mail service was horrible for a long time after the hurricane, so I'm guessing it got lost. We have all the paperwork to get a new title printer, we just have to go downtown and wait in line for a few hours to get it done.)
It's all so very long and complicated. Bottom line is, we can tell the foster that if they don't want Tippy there, we're going to move out and take her with us. I just don't know if she'll find it acceptable.
edited to add:
The lady we bought our trailer from was an animal collector. She let her dogs run loose and let many animals die from lack of care. Hence part of the reason that the landlady is so harsh with us. I'm hoping she has seen by now that we are nothing like this previous owner was.

LOL. Too funny that you mentioned Chelsea. It's the name of the Border Collie that belongs to Tippy's foster mother. Cute name, and the border collie was a cute dog.

Chelsea is another nice name for a dog. That was the name of my beloved greyhound.Well I only had co-ownership of her,but she was my baby.Chelsea was such a sweet girl and was 12,but still going strong.Sadly she was euthanized in June 2003 because she developed bone cancer...what a sad day.Sorry for rambling, but yes...Chelsea would suit the collie too!
