need help housebreaking doxie...

hi all, i'm wondering if anyone has tips on housebreaking an older doxie. my little mini doxie is just a year old, and is still having trouble being potty trained. she's been through a big stress, we had to move cross country due to hurricane Katrina, and now we are settled in our new place. is it too late to crate train her? i don't want her making messes in my friend's apt.
any help and advice is welcome. she's a great little dog in all other ways, but she just isn't the best at potty training.
thanks so much!

It's not too late to crate train her. It took me two years to housetrain my doxie, so I don't really have any great tips or anything ^_^;. Dachshunds are hard to housebreak.

it is never too late to crate train (under most normal circumstances). there is a "sticky" in the dogs section that can help you called: Crate Training Your Dog. read that and if you have any other questions i can try and help you. but i think it could work!

btw - sorry to hear about your forced move.

I total agree,I had a dachshund, and she was the worst.Anytime I move to a new place she had to be housebroken again.Crate training is the best for everybody, even if you didn't crate train before. Also was there other dogs in the house before you moved in?She could be marking her territory.
