Question

Need Help with Private Assistant Dog Training

Hello,

My father has a terminal illness with his lungs and is on oxygen. He is still very active, but has a very hard time exerting physical activity. We looked into being assigned an assistance dog through an agency, but it is just not practical. They are either far too expensive or take years to put a person with a dog.

We have the ability to pay a reasonable amount for private training of a puppy for my father. We are not looking for anything too major, just help with open and closing doors, picking up dropped items, retrieving, more if it is possible.

We are buying a bernese mountain dog puppy we hope to train. We have an older lab and a close family friend has a berne that visits with us regularly. We have researched these dogs and are also pleased with their quick learning and sweet yet protective personalities. We have loved having our visiting berne in our home, she has been a welcome friend.

Does anyone know of a trainer or company that could help us? We would really appreciate it.
