Neutered Daschund marking
Hi! I just came from my daughter's house in Katy, Texas and she is at wits end with her 7 year old neutered male doxie. He has been marking all over the house and has been for a long time. They also have a female doxie that is about four years old. The marking seems to have gotten worse...or it may be that they just moved into a new house and she is more aware of it. She immediately cleans it as she sees it but it is a never ending job.
Has anybody ever heard of using female hormones on a marking male dog to curb this male "territorial" problem?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

I've never heard of using female hormones to cure the problem. hmmm
At 7 I would have to ask if he's been to the vet for a checkup. A lot of times when a male seems to suddenly start "marking" it is more due to some sort of health ailment. Urinary problems. I'd check into it.
Also, is the female spayed? If not, is she in heat? That could explain it as well. Another thought would be that there was a dog in that house prior that was a "marker" in which case he'd be "covering" their marks.
I'd get him a health checkup first and foremost.

I agree with Chrisanne....I would definitely take him for a check up though, also how old was he when he got neutered? sometimes if they get neuterd at a later age they will continue to mark as they did prior to being fixed.

I wouldn't consider that marking.
Dakota from time to time will pee going down the steps from the excitement of going out, and he is a neutered male rottie and has been neutered since 5 months of age.

Marking daschund
Thanks for your respnses. Looks like doxies might be prone to this, huh? He was about a year old when neutered and has had his check up very recently.
Now I have heard of a "band" that actually wraps around the little guys belly kind of like a diaper. Anyone heard of this?
