New-ish Boxer Pup

Hi all, I'm new to the forums and I had a question about my new little baby. I took her to the vet about a month ago for her first set of puppy shots. When the vet was giving her a routine exam he said that she had an "unusual underbite" and that Boxers aren't supposed to have them. He also said she's going to need frequent dentals. Now, I used to work at a veterinary office so I know a fairly good amount about dogs. One thing I know is that bully breeds are bred to have an underbite. Am I incorrect? Also, all dogs need dentals, but just because she has an underbite does that REALLY mean she is going to need a whole lot more than a dog with a normal bite?

I am asking because I want to make sure I'm getting my little baby excellent care and if the vet I'm taking her to doesn't know something as little as that, am I going to have problems in the future? I'm also asking because I'm on a tight budget as it is, and I can't afford to be paying an extra $300 for dentals that aren't needed.

Any help that anyone can give is greatly appreciated.

Huh. Now, I'm no vet, but I've seen plenty of Boxers in my life... and they all have had underbites. So... I dunno what he's referring to unless its very severe or something.

If it IS very severe I can see him saying she'd need her teeth cleaned more often because chewy toys wouldn't do as well "scrubbing" them or something, if her bite is extremely off. But honestly, I can't even say that makes any sense to me. lol

Anyways, she is gorgeous, and hey! I'd love to see pics of your Great Dane. I have one also.
