Question

No Bark Collars which is the best?

I am looking to buy a no bark collar. Has anybody had any luck with the spary collars with the citronella. I am not going to get a shock collar I believe those are dangerous. Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks.

Linsey

Uggh, same here although to each thier own. It's natural behavior for a dog to bark no less then it is for us to speak. I think other training may be in order. Why put something that is uncomfortable or even possibly painful on your pet?

They make a kind that emits a beeping noise when the dog barks. After a couple of lower "warning" beeps it will make a higher pitched beep that dogs don't like. You have to check the collar a couple times a day because the little prongs that sense the vibration of the dog barking can irritate the dog's neck.

Here's what I'm talking about. I think this one might even be prong-less which is even better for the comfort factor.

Is this for mostly outdoors, or is it a problem indoors too?
Since our landlord hates dogs, we had to get Piggy to stop barking or we were gonna get kicked out. We picked up an ultrasonic thingy that sends out a high pitched noise when he barks. He hates it, but it did the job. After a month we didn't have to change the batteries, he had already learned not to bark unless someone was at the door. He doesn't bark outside either. Maybe you could try that? They have ultrasonic collars, and here's some sites that have products:

Hi there, I've used both and my experience has been that the spray collars can misfire, and some dogs learn to bark right through it just to empty the bottle. I'm not a big fan of them although they do work for some. Personally I love the Tritronics bark collar and think it works quite well for many dogs.

It's my opinion that they're perfectly humane. They stim only when the dog barks, the timing is perfect, and the dog doesn't associate it with you. Plus many have multiple levels so you can start out very low, almost like a 'tickle' just to get the dog's attention. (yep, I've felt it, it really is a tickle or vibration)

But if you choose to use an electronic device on your dog spring for the best as this is not the time to search for a bargin. The good collars are worth it.

I don't jump to electronics (or spray collars) right away though, what else have you tried to stop this? Gotta try good 'ol fashioned training first before turning to a device.

Good luck with your dog!
