Nose bleeds in dogs?

I've honestly never heard of a dog having a nosebleed, and I've been a dog owner for 11+ years. Our black lab mix has one that won't stop. She's staying with my parents' house until we get moved into our new place next month, so she's too far away for me to get to right now. I guess she bled all over the carpet throughout the house during the night, and her nose was still bleeding at 10:30 this morning when I first heard about it from my dad. He took her to the vet for us, so we're waiting to hear back about her right now. I'm pacing here, getting nervous and wishing we lived closer to them.

Someone reassure me that this usually isn't a big deal? I'd google, but google usually convinces me of the worst.

Google is right, the dog needs to be at the vet. It is possible that she cut her nose on something, noses, tails, and tongues bleed profusely in dogs. (One of my rats bit my puppy in the ear once; it bled for about 6 hours)

The Vet will be able to tell you what is wrong, hopefully it's just a cut and he can stop the bleeding.

if it's coming from her nostril, it's possibly a tooth problem. There is a passage that connects the spot where the canines are and the nostril, I've seen dogs that had their teeth pulled bleed profusely from there nose. So she could just have a loose tooth that's bleeding out her nose.

She's back from the vet. Her nose finally stopped bleeding just before getting into the car to go. The vet checked her all out and found no noticable causes of it. He's guessing either dry air or a broken blood vessel. It was just so bizarre. I've never even heard of dogs getting bloody noses.

I'm so sorry, hope he will fully recovery and nothing more serious about him. Some cases there is a foreign object, exposure to rodent poison, dental abscesses, or any bleeding disorder that causes bleeding. You should get another vet advice if you are not satisfied...
