Odie went to the vet yesterday

Hi all!

On Thursday night, we noticed that Odie had some yellowish liquid on his back. I checked him, and it looked like pus and his skin was very red and swollen. On friday morning I took him to the vet and he shaved him and checked him out. He has a hot spot and cellulitis in a big area of his back (about 2.5-3 inch diameter circle in the middle of his back. Vet gave Odie a Pen-G , a Depo-Medrol and a Baytri injection. He also gave me Clavamox to give him, a Gentocin spray and Hexadene shampoo to clean it. My poor baby jumps every time I have to clean him. 8( He also checked his ears, cause he's been itching a lot, and he also has them irritated, so I got a ear cleaning solution with Dexamethasone... Aparently all of this is allergies, so I'll be changing his food to Science's Diet zd (or royal canin hypoallergenic if I can find it). I hope he eats it, as he's a bit picky for dog food...

aawww poor Odie.
Sounds very uncomfortable. Hopefully all the meds will clear him up real soon.
Had you just changed his food recently?
My friend fed a Fish & Potato brand we have out here to her dog who's SUPER allergic to everything and it worked great, plus allot less expencive then Vet brands or Royal Canin.

Speedy recovery little Odie!

No, Odie has been on royan canin for a while now... but he seems to be becoming progressively more and more allergic. 8(

Poor thing. I hope his allergies get under control soon so that he is not so miserable. I'll keep him in my thoughts.

please give Odie a hug from Elvis Lee. Poor little guy, that looks super painful. Glad you got him to the vet & that he's on the mend. Has he ever been allergy tested? My Vet thought EL had food allergies & I had him tested. Turns out, he has environmental allergies & NO allergies to food. Keep us posted on how your boy is doing.

No, he has not been allergy tested. I would like to do that, but at the time I don't have much money for that. He did had a horrible reaction to ketamine/valium mix (anesthetic) when he was getting a dental. Also, lately he has been itching more and more (and he doesn't has fleas, or anything).
