Hey, guys. She is home and good.
So, they found a hernia in there. The mass I was feeling was some tissue and fat (the stuff that protects the intestines) coming through her muscle wall. The Dr. said it "peeled off rather well," but there was one part attached (the part attached to the rest of the tissue and fat under the muscle wall).
They removed it, sewed up the edges of the hernia area and then double stiched her closed. The Dr. isn't sure if the hernia caused the mass or if the mass caused the hernia. The first one is better because a hernia can be from a weak part of the muscle wall or an old incision, etc. However, if the mass caused the hernia, that can be bad cause the mass would have to have irritated her muscle wall. So, we are sending the mass off to the labs just to be sure.
We think she probably had a weak spot in the muscle wall (maybe from her umbilical cord. The mass was right near there) or from her poking her stomach with a stick or any number of things.
I'll let you guys know when we have the tests results.
Right now she's under my bed sleeping. I think she's hot and just wants some quiet. We're keeping the doggy door closed for the week and only letting her outside when supervised.
She is NOT as bad as the last time she had stomach surgery, though. So whew! She can walk, but she's a little wobbly.
Thank you, guys so much for the well wishes and thoughts!!
