Well, last week I had Jim take Penny to the vet because we found a ball-like mass on her stomach (under the skin). It was grape sized and a little spongy. I called the ER (found it at like, 3am) and they said it could wait till regular hours.
Well, my
regular vet felt it and took a sample with a needle and said it was a fat deposit. She said it was probably slowly growing all along and that it was inflammed from being poked by a branch or something (at the park). She said to keep an eye on it and if anything with it changed then to call back. I was always skeptical about this because I haven't felt anything and Jim pets her stomach all the time (even the night before we found the mass) and he didn't find anything.
Well, it changed. It got bigger and harder. I wanted to be there for her next appointment, so Jim and I took her earlier today (soonest I could get off work
and get Penny in). By then, the size had gone back down a little, but it remained harder than at first.
The vet said that it was different and that it needed to come out. Sounds like imflammation, but we need to be sure. We think it might be a really late reaction to some stitches she had on her stomach wall when she had a piece of leather removed over 2 years ago. We'll know more when they get in there and see if it's attached to something (muscle, stomach wall) or if it's protruding from something. They will, of course, send the mass out to the labs to see exactly what it is.
So we'll see... I'm really sad for her cause last time she had surgery on her stomach, she was in lots of pain.

She had that leather piece removed and was spayed at the same time. She handled her leg sugeries pretty well, but not the stomach one.
The surgery is Tuesday morning, so I'll update you guys that afternoon/night.
Please, keep her in your thoughts.
