Question about lumps on my dog.

I was wondering if anybody else has found lumps, sorta like fatty tumors on their dogs? Shania my oldest petbull has several of these on her, the largest being under one of her teats. I had asked the vet a year or so ago if these were something I should be worried about and his reply was that if they weren't bothering the dog, then don't worry about them. I guess I'm just worried about her cancer. Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Scott.

I think this is a common thing with pits. My friend has 2 pits that are 6 years old now. One of them has had several lumps like the ones you have described. When the first one appeared my friend freaked out and took her to the vets to have it biopsied and removed. It was not cancerous and the vet told her it wasn't anything to worry about so the other ones that have appeared she has left alone. The dog has had them for several years. I wouldn't worry too much if you don't see them changing. I will see if my friend knows any more about hers. I haven't really asked her about it in a while.

Crittercall is on a distinguished road
These are normally just lipomas, or fatty tumors. Humans get them too. My daughter's first Doxie had them; we had a couple removed at first to make sure but as they didn't bother her we left the rest of them alone - unless we were doing a dental on her or had another reason to sedate her (she was the jolliest dog for days after being sedated!)

The only one that would cause me any real concern would be the one on her teat, as that could be a mammary gland tumor. If it were my dog, I would have that one removed if you have another reason to sedate her (as they get older you don't want to sedate them any more than necessary).

Let me know what happens with her.

Thank you for your comments. I gues the one on the teat is the one that really bothers me too. I'm probably going to at least have that one looked at by the vet. Thanks again.
