Sable and White? Or Tri-colored?

Colleen was listed as a white factor sable and white collie, but I am wondering if she will actually be a tri-colored collie. She is beautiful regardless of what color she turns out to be, I am just curious trying to imagine what she will look like with a full coat.

Sorry for the poor quality of the pics.

She has darker areas framing her face and ears.

She has two darker spots on her back. Here is a pic of the larger one.

And her tail is almost entirely dark and white, with just a little sable mixed in.

What do you think? Sable and white with some darker sable spots mixed in or tri-color? Her coat is already looking longer today than it was when we first met her, so we shall soon see.

I figured she didn't have enough black (yet, at least) to be tri-colored, but since all she has right now is undercoat, I wasn't sure if the darker coloring she did have was a "clue" saying that she'd have more black when her full coat grew in, or if her outer coat would be the same color as her undercoat.

Ein's undercoat is grey and tan, but his outer coat is almost black because it is so dark. I wasn't sure if collies were the same way, or if the two layers were usually the same color.

Thanks for the help!

I hadn't thought of that. The shelter she came from estimated her age at somewhere around a year and a half, but it's possible that she's closer to a year and her coat is still changing/taking it's adult form and color.

It doesn't really matter to me what color she is, I was just curious. With as lovely as she is now, I can't wait to see what she's going to look like when her coat finishes growing back!

On a very positive note, we still have not seen ANY signs of the mange coming back. It's been 6 days since we first brought her home, 4 days since we had to give her back to the foster, and 3 days since we got her back again. That's an awful lot of a stress for less than a week, but I haven't seen any indication that it's coming back. I'm not counting my chickens yet, but I feel optimistic about whether or not the mange will return.

Thats what I thought too, a sable. With sables isn't it the mane body color that counts?
