Samson is Resting w/o Pain now :(
Guys... I'm so numb right now I can't begin to describe it. Life has finally crumbled around me and my heart is forever broken.
I don't have the energy to say much...I'll try to come back at another time to give him a proper farewell but for now I just wanted to let all of you know, that have been so kind and that took the time to listen to me go on and on about him that there was just no more we could do
Another $1,000 later Samson had his pelvic bone, elbows, ankles, and shoulders x-rayed etc today at the specialists...
Samson had the following:
Severe Hip Dysplasia in the Left Hip
Severe Hip Dysplasia in the Right Hip
Serious OCD in the Left Hip
Serious OCD in the Right Hip
SEVERE OCD in the Right Shoulder
SEVERE OCD in the Right Elbow
SEVERE OCD in the Left Elbow
Arthritus already set in in both hips and one elbow...
Samson would have required total hip replacement in both hips, immediate surgery in his shoulders and both elbows. Once, and if, he had gotten through that he would need long term care for the arthritus which was expected to continue worsening in the elbows even with the surgery as well as total elbow replacement in a couple of years once they get better at that procedure.
At just under 6 months old we had no hope of Samson ever being able to run, jump, and play normally and w/o pain. He would've lived his puppy years as an "old dog".
With all of that in mind and watching Samson lie there crying we opted out and decided he needed rest most of all. He was tired and in pain. At 5:10 this afternoon Samson finally got to sleep comfortably and forever
Such a precious baby...I'll always love him dear

Oh my goodness, that is so sad. But you did the right thing, you gave him a life of love and you made the right choice. I know it was so hard for you, but it was for the best. I know there is nothing I can say that will make you feel better, but I hope you'll be okay. We're all here for you if you need anything! I'm sooo sorry for your loss, hang in there. Samson will is in heaven right now, watching over you, and wagging his tail and feeling no pain. I'm soo sorry for your loss, if there was anything I could do, I would.

Awe, I'm truly sorry, Deb! I know it's not easy to say goodbye, but you will always have him in your heart, memories and cheerished photographs. I know it takes a lot of inner strength and unselfishness to have a pet put to sleep ... been there myself. I really admire you for that. It shows how much you loved him, and I'm sure that he really loved you and appreciates you for all the wonderful things you've done for him. He's in a better place now, and free of pain. That's something to be very thankful for.

I am sooo sorry for your loss Deb! I wish there were some words that could be said to make you feel better, but I know that nothing will do that for you.
My heart is with you! Samson was loved, and he knew it.

my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. you went farther than most people would have gone and even though it hurts to have to toss in the towel you did the right thing. i'm sure samson is greatful that you were with him every step of the way and is even more greatful that you allowed him peace when the time came. keep your chin up and we're here for you.

Nothing I can say can bring him back to full health, let alone even console or comfort you. Regardless, I just want to let you know how sorry I am for your loss, and how much I admire you for being able to make this decision for him. You are the best doggie mom, and he will spend eternity at the Rainbow Bridge thanking you.
