Well... we survived it

This pic was taken last night in the dark...thank goodness for flash ... at any rate..he fought and fought to get his collar off and just as he got it to break loose.... he passed out

This morning he was MEGA HYPER!!!! Thankfully his pain killer put him to sleep so he's resting again now

My poor baby...such a lil'man Now he just needs to be all heeled up so he can handle himself during Frances lol

Aw, he does look pooped from fighting the evil E-Collar.

I need to do more research on the Finnish method of spaying and neutering ... They don't need to shave the forelegs to insert IVs or anything like that. Just an injection in the rump that lasts for 30 minutes and that's all. And as I mentioned previously, about 30 minutes after the animal goes to have the operation, you take them home.

Did he get stitches that have to be removed or the ones that dissolve? (I'm curious! )

Give the little bugger a hug from me and wishes for a speedy recovery.

Are the dogs fully asleep from just "an injection in the rump?" I can MAYBE see a neutering done in 30 minutes but I think that is pushing it for a spay. Especially an older dog. Also I wonder about taking the dog home 30 minutes later. Removing a dogs uterus is still a major operation. What if there is a bleeder?

Don't forget we are lawsuit happy here in the U.S. LOL

ctchin quite often our routine speys only take us 30 minutes at work...at most. We don't let them go home until late afternoon though....around 6 hours after their operation. We believe in minimising stress on the dog by letting them go home but if we think the owners are irresponsible or the dog hasn't managed to sit up by the end of the day then they stay overnight. When I had Biscuit done I carried her out to the car and then into the house cause she was still so out of it! But I work there so I was allowed!! no-one else would have been!

oh and I'm with you on the 'the animals don't care' thing! I have so many clients tell me that their dog will cry cause they aren't there and leave toys and such with them to help them....they are always really surprised when I tell them their dog was quite happy until it was nap time! But I still stressed when Biscuit was done....but I was with her during her surgery and I was a wreck cause she kept holding her breath!
