{Hehe, Chocolatepuppy, it seems people always want products from their home country. When we buy treats for the dogs (rawhides and bones, in particular), if it's not "Made in Finland," hubby raises a BIG fuss!}
pihlaja what I was saying about made in USA, the chewbones from some countries (maybe not Finland, I never saw one made in Finland here!) are allowed to throw any by products or whatever(?) in them. The ones I buy are not supposed to have any thing 'extra' thrown into them. Maybe you have good quality chew bones there too!

I know what you're talking about. Some European countries don't have strict regulations on what goes into the rawhide, but Finland is pretty tight about what a company can and cannot put into a rawhide.

Most of the products here actually look kind of nasty because there are no dyes in them. The first time I saw a treat with no colouring I told Sami, "That looks sick." Even the pig ears here look funky compared to the ones I was used to in Louisiana. I don't think ANYTHING is added to them at all.

Also, Finnish farmers cannot use pesticides on their crops. If they are having a REALLY bad problem with bugs, they can write the agricultural ministry and a review will be done to see if a very WEAK pesticide should be administered. And the critters here are not fed any hormones, either. They even have eggs called "Happy Chicken" because the chickens are not in coops--they're yard birds.

And I don't think Finland exports any of their rawhide products. Hmmm ... I'll have to ask hunny about it. I think they might export some to Estonia, but it's because everything is nasty there!

But you are right about not needing anything "extra" in the treats. And I'm sure Lacey and Mandy thank you for caring about them that way.

Yeah to hubby for the good idea! Hope that solves the poor little one's poop problems! I hear ya with the long lasting treats buying time for housework though! It's the only way to get anything done around here without 2 sets of eyes saying "Aren't you done yet?"!

Sounds like the pig ears...that happens to my dogs whenever Shane's mom decides to spoil them NOT fun! The Nylabone will be a much better alternative for your little one! Glad to hear he's feeling better

Hehe, Kathy, I don't get "Are you done yet?" I get, "Oh, hey! Let ME help with that! You need sheltie and samoyed assistance! Can't do it alone!"

The nylabone is a good thing, but there's a problem: Seamus doesn't like it! We gave it to him and he looked at me like, "This is crap. I want the real thing!"

I'll put some peanut butter or homemade whipped cream on it (he likes the stuff) and see how he treats it then. Knowing him, he'd probably just lick it all off and then let Kirby chew on the nylabone.

Well, the problem seems to be over.

Since Seamus was pooing so much in the carrier, Sami and I decided just to put him in the kitchen so, if he does poo, he won't have to sleep in it.

He hasn't pooed in the house ONCE after that. And we've only had two pee accidents. I'm honestly amazed. His poos are still a bit soft, but he's been holding them until we go outside. I think we can now say the baby Seamus no longer has to sleep in the carrier. Maybe by winter he can graduate to the bedroom!

He hasn't had any pig ears and I'm still holding off. He gets a few pieces of Beggin' Strips and Chicken Softbits during our training session, and he has a rawhide that he chews but can't break pieces off (at least not yet).

But all in all, he's doing much better. And he has been telling me when he needs to potty more often now, which I am proud of him for.

So, the little Seamus is doing better.

Thank all of you for your kinds words and support.

Yay!!! Hurray for you and Seamus! It must be good to enter your house and not smell poo anymore.

Oh believe me, IT IS!

But it seems all of our animals like to have farting contests, so there is still a nice aroma floating around.

Thank the stars for air freshener spray!

I'm so glad my birds and betta don't fart! If my bunnies do, it's okay since they're outside.

But why do you keep feeding them beans?

Your Bettas don't fart? Watch for little bubbles that seem to come from nowhere...

We should create a betta fart club and run tests to see how often each betta farts daily!

Maybe we're on to something. Maybe THAT's how Bettas make bubblenests!

No worries, you won't smell it...not at first. If you don't clean the water often and you don't have a filter, you WILL Start to smell it later.
