Showing Dogs...

I love showing. I started doing the matches when I was 8 years old, and started doing junior handling when I was 10 years. I think I was about 11 years when I actually competed in the real shows. I have shown my Shiba, my mom's friend's Bulldogs, Whippets for a lady I met at a dog show before (I will eventually get a Whippet when we move to a bigger house, as he is payed off for a litter when I want a show puppy.), I have also shown a French Bulldog for my mom's friend, and I have shown a Weimerainer for my Aunt before. The first time I ever showed a Weimerainer, and I got 2nd out of a class of 6 i think it was it was also in the big classes (Confirmation.). All the judges know the top time handlers, and my aunt said "if the judge had any guts he would have put me infront of the handler..." I was so happy i got 2nd though. I love showing and plan on doing it when I'm older also. The dog I show on a regular basis in the Junior Handling is Jewel, my Shiba. Does anyone else show dogs? What breed?

My husband used to show his Samoyed, Kirby, when he was younger. Kirby stopped going to shows when he was around 1.5 years old since he wasn't doing well anymore (no adult coat yet). However, now at three years old, his coat is gorgeous for a male Samoyed and his breeder and my husband are planning on actively showing him again with thoughts of breeding him in the future as well.

At least in Finland judges cannot really show favourtism over certain handlers since most judges are from another country. It makes things much less biased.
