Another pittie myth!
Punish the Deed, not the Breed!
Dr. Brady Barr of National Geographic (Dangerous Encounters: Bite Force, 8pm est 8/18/2005) – Dr. Barr measured bite forces of many different creatures. Domestic dogs were included in the test.
Here are the results of all of the animals tested:
Humans: 120 pounds of bite pressure
Domestic dogs: 320 LBS of pressure on avg. A German Shepard, American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) and Rottweiler were tested using a bite sleeve equipped with a specialized computer instrument. The APBT had the least amount of pressure of the 3 dogs tested.
Wild dogs: 310 lbs
Lions: 600 lbs
White sharks: 600 lbs
Hyenas: 1000 lbs
Snapping turtles: 1000 lbs
Crocodiles: 2500 lbs

It really depends on the owner. If they don't teach them proper behavior of course they are going to possibly attack somebody.

I have to say i am mad on Staffs!!! I love them soooooooooo much. I think they are gorgeous in every way!! I cant comment on Pits etc as have never had any contact with them but i can categorically state that ataffies are just the best dogs!! They are kind and loyal, loving and affectionate, real people pleasers! I would say that the only reason ANY dog regardless of the breed would be vicious etc has got to be down to the owner and the way it has been raised!!

I think if pit bulls are raised properly they can be great pets but then at the same time they can turn at any moment. I have heard cases where a loving family who treated there dogs great the dog turned and attacked the kid.

Horses simply love running around. They enjoy flexing their muscles, arching their tails in the air, rising up powerfully on their hind legs, and then thundering off at full speed. In between the gallop strides they buck exuberantly and toss their heads joyfully. After repeating their show a couple of times, they pause for a moment to look around with widely flared nostrils, as if to ask: Has everyone seen us? Aren't we simply fantastic? We urge them to move again. They react on the spot, hooves flying with delight.

are you sure when you heard the story it wasn't being made up? Did you hear it straight from the family? Not doubting you but my neighbor who "knows all about dogs because she worked for a vet" said that our pit was going to turn on us and she never did...still hasn't she is the sweetest dog

The dog could of "turned" because it was being provoked or was sick or something.Or maybe it was badly bred genetically.
