Starting 0ff 2006 right - with surgery....
Tomorrow (Monday the3rd), my 4 year old Belgian will be undergoing surgery to remove both front dew claws. Tonight he was playing fetch and caught one, dislocating it. Now it needs to be removed, and the vet wants to do both. While he's out, I will be having his teeth cleaned as well.
I am so scared for him to go under anesthetic. He has never been anesthetised before.... good thoughts needed please. He's the first dog in the photo collage in my signature below.

Thanks everyone. He's home and doing well now I've been told by several people that the key to this surgery being successful is to keep the dog from licking the wounds. I am hoping not to have to use the e-collar on him - he is bandaged pretty heavily and hopefully won't bother them too much. Time will tell...

Shay is doing well. I changed his bandages for the first time today and there is no redness or swelling. Seven stitches in each leg though, poor boy.
He is behaving himself and leaving his bandages alone, which is very important in this kind of surgery. I would hate to have to put the cone on him, but will if he chooses to start messing with those bandages.

Glad to hear he's being good about the bandages. Hope his recovery is full and swift.
