Yes, I hope all of the other were returned. I'm so happy to hear she's safe. Perhaps they realized she was spayed and couldn't breed her so they dumped her...?

I thought about that too.....who knows.

The other dogs haven't been returned. It's been a few weeks since the other labs were stolen and it's been over a week since the St. Bernard was stolen.....so I don't think they will be coming back.

Rhonda, don't you live in an uncongested area? This just proves you can't trust anyone and no matter where you live, you can't leave your dog outside unattended.

On the Pit Bull forum I belong to, one of the members is completely opposed to crate training and says it is inhumane. I don't like putting Logan in a crate during the day either but there is no way I would put him in a kennel outside, which is what the member highly suggests. It doesn't matter if there is a gate or not! The member said a dog in a house can just as easily be stolen. I think leaving a dog outside all day is asking for trouble.

I work in another town (which is where my co-worker lives). It's a bigger town, but not a big city type of town.

I think it depends on where you live whether or not leaving a dog outside is ok. Scarlette HATES being in the house, especially in the summer. I have a 10x30 outdoor kennel behind my house that she stays in during the day in the summer. She's completely out of sight from anyone passing by on the road, so I never felt it would be a problem, especially in such a rural area......but now that all of this has been going on, I think she'll be staying inside ALL of the time during the summer.

I'm not going to lock it just in case there's an emergency and she needed to be let out. My neighbors' house caught on fire while they weren't home and their dog was in the kennel in the backyard close to the house. Thankfully one of the firefighters was smart enough to let the dog out so it wouldn't die from smoke or heat.

That's a very valid point. I hadn't thought of that. Maybe a very loud alarm system that's motion activated? But then every squirrel and bird would set it off...
