Stray at the campgrounds...embedded collar and starved, got my uncles dog pregnant
We went camping and there was a stray, a dog that I guessed was a Chinook/Pit Bull/Lab. He was at the campsite because my uncle's black lab was in heat and he smelt her. I named him Jindo and he was really shy, he ran around with his tail between his legs, being screamed at by "fellow" campers, and being kicked. I felt so sorry for him, his collar was nearly into his neck, and he was extremely skinny. When I got a few hot dogs out he ran up whining and grabbed the hot dogs. I got a leash on him and ran around the field, he grabbed the leash and started wagging his tail like crazy, he licked me all over the face. My mom told me only to play with him in the field because my uncle would be MAD if I was playing with him. I petted him and rubbed his neck and he loved the words "Good Boy". I let him off the leash around midnight and my whole family (7 adults, 7 kids) went for a walk, a total of 14+ people and I had my Boxer, Georgia walking. Well guess what!!?? Jindo followed us, tail up high and he let EVERYONE pet him and talk to him and when I called "JINDO!" when he wondered off, he'd run full speed up and lick me all over. I turned him into a lover!! He slept on my feet that night and laid by the fire...he ran around everywhere with me and my uncle, friend and I ran to Safeway and got there 5 minutes before it closed, nobody was there. Jindo followed us, happy as can be. I fed him some hot dogs and dog food, while my dad was mad that I was taking care of a stray. Well, he ended up getting a "tie" with my uncles black lab...my mom was supposed to be watching the baby and didnt know the dog was outside and my uncle was gone, it was his dog and he left her outside on the chain...well my mom heard my aunt screaming and ran out and then my cousin came in BAWLING and crying with tears all over her face telling me her mom was KILLING THE DOG AND HIM AND ELLY WERE STUCK TOGETHER. I jumped up and ran outside and my aunt was KICKING HIM IN THE HEAD...well I was screaming and run up and hovered over the dog with my body and guarded him with my body.... he was trying to move and he couldnt. My mom was trying to pull them apart and my mom was screaming STOP because she would seriously hurt her dog...well they were "tied" for 15 minutes and now her AKC Lab is pregnant with a stray...she is pissed...we left the campground yesterday and had to leave him there...I was glad I gave him a chance to play like a real dog and he got some real human friends!!!!
Oh and by the way, I did manage to get that ALMOST imbedded collar off his neck...some plyers and snapping did the trick...poor guy was being chocked to death.

Can you call the Humane Society or the SPAC to go pick him up? We (Beagle Paws) recently rescued a dog with an embedded collar and it had to be surgically removed and he needed stitches. He is doing alot better now. That stray dog will need stitches and antiobiotics.
Can your family get the lab spayed? There are emergency spays available, which will terminate the pregnancy,as by the sounds of it,these pups are not wanted. An emergency spay is the best idea in this situation.

I wouldn't recommend emergency spays.Simply because...if you wouldn't get it done before the dog was pregnant why wait till when it is? That's not the dogs fault there.& Your aunt (cousin's mom?) should be charged with animal abuse iMO.
Her dog(?) was in heat.Should have been spayed. She had no right to hurt that dog .
It is inhumane to terminate pregnancies like that,I know quite a few vets an hour& half away from me refuse to do it.
I asked their opinions on it& they said no they simply will not& it's frowned upon. They direct people to other vets. The new vets near me are extremely passionate regarding the lives of animals.
But what Lisa said about the animal rescue,I think it would be a good idea. This guy would love a home
You showed great compassion to this dog& for that I thank you =]

Let's not turn this into a debate please.
I hope that poor stray is able to find a home with someone.
I know there is a certain type of shot available to abort pregnancy in dogs. If she's interested, she can ask a vet about it.

That poor stray. All that drama for the sake of doing what you should do for your animals anyway.
I'm so sorry for all the little ones involved.
I presume your aunt is a breeder? Otherwise I don't understand why she has bought an AKC registered dog in the first place?
Anyway, none of this is your fault, it's just a shame people aren't more responsible. The stray clearly took the brunt of peoples' frustrations when it was only doing what came naturally (considering the situation).
Hopefully there's something that we can all learn from this.
Keep us updated.

Yes, my aunt is my cousin's mom.
My uncle would never have her spayed while pregnant, that's like getting an abortion except with a dog you are killing more babies. My mom and he already discussed it already and he said definetly not. He would never do that to his dog or the puppies.
And girlrazor...well, what exactly do you mean by breeder? It depends on what you mean.
candyraver, I agree with you...she had NO right to hurt the dog, and that's why I was guarding him with my body, getting myself some nice big purple bruises...

Thank you Melissa... I feel so bad though, for that poor dog...I loved that I gave him a chance to be a real dog, but I hate that I left him...

Melissa,I just wanted to let you know that the vets here ARE compassionate and DO care about the animals. To me it sounded like you were saying thet they are not, because they WILL do emergency spays.
I am not going to start a debate,I am just getting that out there. The vets here are AWESOME!
And agaim LuvMeBre...can you call a SPCA or Humane Society to go pick him up? You didn't answer my question.

Oh.Well you never know.Personally I would call and tell them what area he is in,because he definatly will need vet care for his neck.
Thats what I would do tho.

His collar was not yet imbedded, it was tight and nearly imbedded, but not yet in the skin.
