The Dreaded Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD)

With all the good luck I have, I seem to have found another shih tzu who has flea allergy dermatitis. She's not even 6 months old yet and already chewing like crazy. The younger of my Cavaliers (3 years old) has it too and is on Temaril-P, which contains a steroid and seems to work pretty well, but I don't want to put a dog this young on steroids.

So now I'm interested in how anyone else handles this problem. All of my dogs and cats are treated monthly with Advantage and we do premise spraying about every 2 weeks. However, we can't seem to keep the fleas from jumping the fences - or the cats - so we can't seem to get rid of them. If we could just get a good hard freeze. . .not likely, I know.

Anybody have any suggestions? This chewing is driving me crazy!!!
