The first squirrel in our yard

The first squirrel I have ever seen in our yard didn't get a good reception. I didn't realize that he was out there and I let Frank and Belle out to potty. The poor little thing had no idea where to go. Frank was quick - much quicker than I am. He actually caught up with the little guy and, thank God, stopped and didn't do anything. The squirrel was pratically underneath of Frank. Then the squirrel finally realized he could fit through our fence! I don't know what took him so long to realize it. As he escaped through the fence Frank got a puff of his tail fur. Luckily the squirrel seemed just fine and ran off into my (dogless) neighbors yard. I felt so badly for the poor little thing. I never encourage them to chance anything. However, they are dogs.
We get loads of bunnies in our yard. Well loads for the type of area we live in. But the bunnies are much smarter than this squirrel. The bunnies are usually out of the yard before the dogs realize they are there! Then the bunnies will sit in another yard and just look at the dogs. I swear they are teasing the dogs! The bunnies know that the dogs cannot get past the fence and that they are safe.

davids mom has a squirrel in her yard that likes to play with there beagle, its cute, he will lead her all around the yard, and around the trees.. its so funny to watch, he'll stop and wait for her to make she shes following him too... i dont know if she would actually hurt it if she caught it, cuz she plays really nice with our rabbit when we took him over there. but she loved chasing him

I swear when the squirrel stopped running and Frank caught up he had no idea what to do next. Frank just stopped like - hey you are supposed to be running. I just worry about next time.
Maybe it's time to teach Frank that small creatures are not for chasing. I can start with our kitty Bean who he LOVES to chase. He's great with Tyler so I know he can learn. I just have to get Bean and our buns to slap him and bite him - that is how Tyler taught Frank not to mess with him.
And that sounds like a silly little squirrel! I love squirrels so I would love to watch them hop through our yard.

I just hope that squirrel doesn't try to "play" with my dogs again! I don't think my nerves can take it.
My dad came home once to a dead squirrel in his house. His kitties were not afraid. The poor girl that came in with him thought it was a great looking cat toy and walked right up to it before realizing. Luckily it was the only squirrel that got in his house. He lived in a really old house in Valley Forge. There were tons of critters around. Mostly mice and a bat once.
I am glad I have my own house now! It's new so no holes.
