Tippy is coming early! (And it's guaranteed!)
Okay, I have no clue who the foster was talking to, but she called me this morning and said that she just realized that she can't ask me to sign a contract because the shelter owns Tippy, not her. And rather than her come and drop Tippy off tomorrow tonight, do I want to come and get her tonight?
I don't know if the shelter found out that she was going to force us to sign a contract and do a home visit, or if they found out she left Tippy outside in the rain all day yesterday, or if Tippy and her border collie got in a fight or what. Based on her personality, I really don't think this was her idea. But I'm so glad that it's happening this way.
I told Lucas that someone is trying to tell us that Tippy belongs to us and that us finding her was meant to be.
I'm at school now, and I'm going to leave in an hour and 10 minutes to go and pick her up!

I went and picked her up (by myself because I went straight from school) and the lady said, "I hope you don't get mad at me, but I decided to do the contract." Since Lucas wasn't with me, she said she'd bring it to my house next week and she'd kind of like to see where Tippy'd be living. I said fine (b/c after I pay the fee for Tippy, she's mine, sign or no sign). Then, I said it has to be after 9:45 pm because I'm starting a new class on Monday and this proffesor won't let me leave early and Lucas is on call next week, so he can get paged any time. Make sure you call right before you leave the house to make sure he's here. She said that if it would be easier for us to come to her house, we could do it that way (YAY!) Since I know she's going to want to visit Tippy sometime, and I'd rather her not come to the house, I told her that if she ever has a weekend off, and wants to meet us at the dog park with her border collie, let us know. She seemed happy with that.
Tippy was very nervous at first, so we put the other dogs in our room to let her settle in, in peace. She seemed to feel much more at ease after I gave her a rawhide. She does like going through the doorway between the living room and bedroom, but she's not allowed in the foster's bedroom, so I think it will just take her time to learn that it's okay. I helped her into our bedroom last night when I laid down to watch tv, and we decided to try and see if she would sleep on the bed. The crate was ready for her in the room if it didn't work out. She and Tucker "bothered" each other for about 10 minutes because the spot she chose to lay down was the exact spot where he usually sleeps, but I patted another spot on the bed and told Tucker to come see me, so he did and settled down there. This morning, I put her in her crate to eat because she didn't start to eat immediately. Ein is a pig, and has turned Tucker into one, too, and I didn't want them to try and take her food. Before I left for work, I tried to take her back in the bedroom (Lucas was still home and in bed) and she went and sat at the door. I took her out, even though she had already peed and she went #2. No accidents in the house yet, so I think she's pretty much housebroken.
I do have one question. I know that dogs sometimes mount each other to show dominance. Tucker does it to Ein sometimes because Ein is the alpha and every so often Tucker likes to say "I'm the boss". Tucker tried to mount Tippy several times last night (before we put him back in our room so that he didn't bother her too much since she was still very nervous). I thought he was just trying to show dominance. But when Tucker mounts Ein, his penis doesn't come out. It did when he was trying to mount Tippy. He is neutered and she is spayed (was already spayed when she was found 3 months ago, so she has been spayed awhile). Do you think it is still a dominance thing, or do you think he is trying to "breed" with her even though they are both fixed?

Congrats on getting her a day early .... With Tucker it sounds like a dominance thing.... unless things get really rough I would just leave it be. She might even mount him, there will probably be a lot of mounting with all the dogs for the first couple of weeks until they get their pack order established. My guys will still mount each other occasionally and sometimes when Ed (neutered) mounts Gunner his penis will come out ewww gross .

I am glad she is settling in.Also glad Ein and Tucker are getting on fine with her.
Thats normal. You don't have to worry about that.As mentioned,it is a dominance thing and it will probably go on for a little while until everyone knows where their place is.

Wow, Oh my gosh. You got her Yahoooooooo. I think its dominance too. But a boys a boy and just cause he can't produce doesn't take the drive completely away. She will show him a thing or two when she gets comfortable.
