Tito question...
Ok...well...last night I saw Tito humping my teddy bear!
He's just over a year 1 yr old and he was fixed at approx 6 months old. I've never seen him do this before.
Now, Snooper (Yorkie) humps Manto (GSD - and oh what a site to see that is!!) - but she's doing that for dominence reasons. She's 7 yrs old and Manto is only 6 months old. She's trying to tell him she's the boss around here.
BUT Tito was humping a teddybear! Is he trying to show dominence to my teddybear?? Neither Snooper nor Manto were around when he was doing it. Although Toby (macaw) was with me on the couch.
Anyway....what do ya'll think? What does it mean?

I don't know... Man my neighbor had a yorkie that used to hump a stuffed teddybear also, but that's because it started & they never stopped it... (They thought it was funny ) I have no idea why they would do that though, I've heard that small dogs often do that though

Jodi!! You know why I am laughing!!
Tito is really feeling like lowest dog in the pack order. Humping a stuffed animal, blanket, etc. is exactly what you said. He needs to dominate something! He was just displaying his need to be a little more dominant.
What did you do when you saw him?
A firm, not threatening (you don't want to yell at him, it's a natural behavior) "Tito, No" or Stop that - anything to distract him from that will stop him. He might continue to do it now and then if he's feeling a little dominated by the other dogs with stronger personalities. Just tell him to stop. He will... and he'll be OK.
Max is low man here - he's so soft temperamented that he rolls over for Remy!! OMG
He'll hump the cat, a blanket on the couch... as soon as I see him start to get into that position I stop him. Poor Max and Tito...
Our baby boys are dominated by little girlie dogs!!

Well, after I got over my shock, I started giggling. I couldn't help it!
Itsy bitsy Tito humping a huge white fluffy teddy bear. The look on his face was priceless.
But, I'll be sure to stop him next time! Should I give him extra lovin' when I bust him? Or just go on like nothing happened?

Well- I would give him a few minutes so that it doesn't seem to him as if you are praising him for humping...
Then love on him all you want!!
I wish I could have seen the look on his face!! omg!!

Oh the poor Teddy...must have been humiliating for him...haha...
When Max was little, he would hump Harlie because she was the dominant one, as soon as we saw him doing it, we would tell him no and remove him...he only did it a few times, and eventually Harlie let him be the boss...weird, but true...Now every once in a while we will catch Har humping him, and we just do the same thing, telling her no...I sometimes feel bad for her, but hey, she gave up her dominance, thats her own fault...haha...
I hope Tito's habit is resolved soon, and the poor Teddy doesnt have to go through that again.

lol Jodi, your not alone, my mom's red doxie is now 11 and he still humps the teddy bears.... She has to now put them up out of reach, because if he can reach just one, you can guarantee it's gonna get humped..... I hope for Tito's sake the problem can resolve itself as how humilated he must feel to give love to a teddy bear

lol you guys!
my friend has a chihuahua that is about 7 yrs old. it is VERY protective of my friend and her family and area. when i bring my dogs over, she will hump them. i just give her a firm NO.
i doubt it is sexual cause my dogs are girls and so is my friend's.

Poor Tito! My mom and dad watched their friend's male yorkie that did the same thing. A teddy bear! They had no idea what to do, and just thought it was male hormones.
Just a quick question, Cookie did the same thing to both of my daughters legs and arms. Cookie was almost 4 years old when we got her. The girls thought it was hilarious, but I put a kabosh to that. Was that a dominance thing too?

It is weird to see - but males and females do it - it's not a sexual thing at all - it's the body language of dominance. If you think about it - what better position could a dog get into to force another dog to respect the vie for a more dominant position in the pack.
Rolling belly up is the opposite - total submission with the most vulnerable part exposed as if to say "I trust you enough not to gut me".
I'm just thinking about all the poor Teddy Bears all over the country...
