Toy Aggression - Tables Turned... Now what?
Ok... we all know Polo can be overly possessive of his toys and especially his bones....
He's so possessive that he's aggressive and as noted in another post, has proven he will bite if provoked enough...
Now we have lil'miss Trinity. A whopping 7 weeks old and 9lbs going on a thousand.
SHE IS TOY AGGRESSIVE!!!!!!! I can't believe it. Fortunately, she only THINKS she's 200lbs of pure muscle so we can start working on this right away! But what makes a tiny lil puppy so possessive? She growls and barks pretty aggressively if another dog tries to take her toy away.
Now for the HILARIOUS part...
Polo is in love with Trinity. He wont let anything hurt her including himself. So now she can take HIS TOYS and when she becomes aggressive about it... he doesn't know what to do besides lay down in front of her and bark at her. He's soooo confused lol. Anyone else he'd just bite them and take his toy. But not Trinity... no way.... she's too precious to harm, and too strong willed to give him his toy back...so he's stuck! He wont even growl at her! He just barks a "fatherly bark" like he's saying "Hey you little stinker... give that back!" but he can't say anything firmer than that to her lol
Now I'm confused too lol

Poor Polo! Probably due to being in a litter of pups...she had to be aggressive with brothers and sisters around...Orion was like that too. Great thing is, you have PLENTY of time to work with her and teach her manners

That's funny!! Just remember to distract her from her toy with something better...like food, a better toy etc. It teaches them that if something gets taken off them, then something better is coming and they are happy! Do the same if she is food aggressive. Don't take the food out from underneath her straight away.....put your hand down to the bowl, and then give her a treat as you take the food away
Good luck with it all! i'm sure it will be an easy habit to break....she hasn't had it for long after all!! It's good that Polo is so good with her!

I'm glad to hear they are getting along so well. I hope you can nip this in the butt quickly!
