Update on the staffy Rescue shelter - Paw Talk

I am sooo impatient so I rang the local one (which isn't too local now I look at the number properly) and the phone was disconnected. I don't know if it is still running or not so I rang the sydney shelter to find out (the other shelter's link is on their site) but she said it is just a link and doesn't know if it still runs or not. However, I told this woman what I wanted and I am happy to travel to pick up the right dog for me. The shelter has just moved so their internet isn't running yet but she took my email address and is going to send me some pics of a few that she thinks will suit me if she can get the net working!! She is getting two females today and she knows that one of them is dog friendly and people friendly (both are high priority for me) but she is going to re-assess her today when she gets her. That one is a Staffy x Pitbull but from the photos she has seen she is more staffy than pit bull. I'm am literally bursting at the seams here!!! The woman was so nice on the phone and asked what all of my requirements were so that she could match us up properly. She also knows that I'm not getting a fence until Wednesday but they are a no kill shelter and if she can match me up with a dog she will hold it for me (something the RSPCA won't do). I am not going to sleep now!!! If she can't get photos to me I'm going to go down on the weekend to have a look and see if they suit and then I'll make the drive back down once my fence is fixed. I have also decided that I'm going to call my dog biscuit providing the name fits!!! Hopefully I'll be able to put pics up!!!! I hope this woman gets her internet up and running today!!!!! Even if these particualr dogs don't suit she only rescues staffy's and staffy x's so it won't be much of a wait until the right one comes along!! she goes and recues them from pounds and travels quite a long distance to rescue them. She has mostly males at the moment but she knows I really want a female but is sending me a picture of a two year old pure bred she has that is just the perfect dog for me (her words) people and dog friendly and very obedient. My mum laughed and is betting that I end up bringing home the male but I'll only do it if he really is the perfect match cause I am leaning way more towards the girls right now!!! lmbo I usually get told I'm crazy by my parents and bf but cute is heaps better!!!! I can't wait to see my bf's face when i tell him I want to drive to Sydney so I can just look at a dog!!!lmbo He is going to freak but he will do it!!!

OMG...Carmen, you said you want to name your dog Biscuit right? That is soooo what I want to name a dog!!!!! Good luck, I hope you find the perfect dog! I can't wait till you hear something! I know how great it will be to hear from her!

lmbo yes Brandy I want to call it Biscuit!!! I'm sticking with the food theme!!lmbo From Nacho to Biscuit but it just popped into my head the other night. My mum told me I had to really impress her with a name cause Nacho just suited him sooo much and she didn't want to be disappointed with a name but she loves biscuit!!! I've never heard it before (same as Nacho) but both names just came to me without really thinking about it!

She's really funny cause at first she was all like 'no not a Staffy, why do you want one of them for? They're such a boy's dog, go and get a girl dog' but she has now come to the conclusion that they are gorgeous as puppies and then grow up to be soo cute cause they are soo ugly!!! Her words not mine!!! She used to be all caught up with the bad reps of pit bulls but she has learnt a lot and isn't scared of them anymore!

That's great that you have showed her that they are wonderful dogs, not the bad rep they keep getting! I bet she'll love the new dog!

dude! i drove 3 hours (into oklahoma even) to look at a dog. and you know what? even though i didn't get that dog, i found chaquita there that same day! i'm sure it'll work out!

Thanx Formula! I don't mind driving down and not finding one that suits me...sure I'll be disappointed but I'm not bringing somethig back that doesn't suit our family and lifestyle. The fact is that I know it's not going to be long now that I have this woman helping me as well! I really hope that she does have one for me though of course!

Its great you are getting a rescue. And a Staffy at that. I cant wait till you get to bring her...or him lol...home...we wanna see pics!

There will definently be pics when I get them!!!! I'm going to ring the woman first thing tomorrow morning if she hasn't sent them to me. She was hoping to have the internet running today but she uses the same service as me and they are great once they are running but they take ages to come and connect you!
