We can have our own dog!!
Dave and I signed a new lease today and we are allowed to have a dog!!  All we have to do is maintain the apartment the way it is now and leave the yard free of dog poo (which it has been since we got Pitch) and we are okay!! 
Unfortunately, we will not be keeping Pitch. Dave and I have always had our heart set on buying a purebred APBT or AmStaff from a reputable breeder and we intend to fulfill our dreams. I am spreading the word to my friends and neighbours about Pitch in the hopes I can find him a stable home.
