Yeast infection....

Did you know that a dog can get a yeast infection in their ear? i just found out cause i had to take tatyana to the vet cause i though maybe she had ear mites or something... well, the vet swabbed her ear, and no sign of ear mights, but a friggin infection... so they tried to shave some of the hair away from her ear.. yeah, not fun.. she climbed on me like i was a tree!!... then they gave up and just put the solution in it to clean the ear out... tatyana shook her head and got the ear goop on the wall and the vet techs.. man, it was funny.. at least her ear is all clean and she got medicine for it... just thought id share my ever so fun day at the vet .. and that porker is up to 57 lbs... in her 9 years of life, shes never gone over 45! now 57! .. but hey, shes gettin old, im spoiling her i guess

Mirra has gotten 2 yeast infections in her left ear within the past 5 months. Not fun at all trying to put the meds in there!

Sorry to hear about the infection. In case your vet didn't mention it, you'll need to watch her ears from now on. Once they get one, they're much more prone to them.

well shes not bad with the meds actually.. we've been cleaning her ears for a few months now so shes used to it.. i just put the drop in, massage her ear, then call her a good girl and get her excited and she forgets all about it... until the next drop gets put in hours later

good morning,
My little Maltipoo is 7 months old & has had 2 yeast infections in his ears so far. He has floppy ears so the Vet said he will be prone to them. Once the infection is cleared up, we use Novaclens (sp?) to clean his ears once a week & after a bath. Also, we suspect our baby has food allergies & dogs with food allergies are prone to ear infections.

Suggestion for those that have dogs prone to yeasty-ears and bathe them on a regular basis: When you bathe your dog, pack their ears with cotton first. This will help keep the water out of their ears and will help prevent infections. If they are kept clean and dry, bacteria won't grow. Just a hint in hopes of helping
