climbing


My marginated toroise seems to be climbing on top of her shelter, i don't have any idea to as how she is doing this, has anyone else ever had a tortoise keep climbing uo and just sitting there?

There are a lot of turtles/tortoises that climb out of their enclosures -- for whatever reason. They don't have to be made for climbing or even very good at it to do it. Mostly they do it to escape their enclosure. Just be careful. You don't want her to get hurt.

she can't escape, she's in a totally enclosed vovirium and the windows that open are out of reach

sure, but she doesn't know she can't escape. she is probably climbing to try.

When I first read this, the picture of a tortoise climbing out of it's shell entered my mind. I know this is impossible, but all those bugs bunny cartoons are stored in my brain.

I hope she doesn't hurt herself. Reptiles can be very stubborn.

My box turtles climb on top of their shelter boxes sometimes. They have remarkably strong little legs, so if they can get ahold of an edge they can often pull themselves up. I've seen water turtles climb out of their enclosures a lot from floating logs if the water level is too high.
