Question

How many turtles...

How many turtles can live humanely in a 300gallon aquarium? I currently have two turtles...want more.
Plus anyone have pictures of their turtle setups?

[EdiT] The turtles are Red Ear Sliders.

umm..well as long as you dont break the 10 gallons per inch rule.i dont know how big you're RES is, I only have my Eastern Painted, she lives in a 55 gallon and is moving to a 75 gallon, but i know that EP are smaller than RES but i wouldnt get more than 3 turtles in there. RES are rather big. if you want to see pics of my boring 55gal .your more than welcome .lol

I would think at most 6 but not 100% on that. Depending on size of course.

The "rule of thumb" I've always used for water turtles is:

Depth = 2 X the total turtle length

Length = 5 X the total turtle length

Width = 2.5 X the total turtle length

So if you plan on an 8" turtle, minimum tank would be approx 40"L X 20"W X 16"D.

I don't know what the dimensions are of your 300, but this is how I would figure out how many turtles could live comfortably there.

Next you'd need to take a look at filtration......

I'm going to get a custom 300gallon made.
Thank you for the info =]
Sounds like a good amount of space per turtle, that is what i'm aiming for.

Filtration is also going to be hard.
How the world will I have a good filter

YAY Swimming *runs over the Melissa-chan's for a swim*

Fluva are really good, I plan on getting one soon, once I get the money for it. Stephanie has them and I believe so does Amanda. They are a quality filter!!
