Lost Turtle

I have a painted turtle and a red eared slider turtle. I went on vacation I gave them food. They were fine the whole time. I got back they were there. Late at night they was a cat by the tank. I have feeder fish and 2 turtles in there. I scared away the cat. Today I scared it away again but I looked in the tank my painted turtle was gone. I checked my entire backyard and many places in the backyard. I think that the turtle will eventually die. It needs water to eat and I cant find it. I put water in my pond and food. What do you guys think happened.

I had an outdoor red eared slider in a big tank one time, and it somehow crawled out. It was on the road where it was hit by a car! I hope yours turns up okay. good luck

How big was the turtle? Small enough that the cat could have picked it up and carried it off? Maybe that's what happened.

Eastern painted turtles live here in the wild, in MA, and can survive over the winter. You never know, he could have found his way to water and survived.

I'm sorry you never found him though.

It is about to hit winter and it is going to get cold. The reason why I dont think it will survive is because they are alot of stray cats where I live and dogs. Also he cant eat without water.
