Sleeping under lamp

I saw my tortoise sat sleeping under the lamp at 9 o'clock at night (they are usually under their log hide thingy by then). I thought that he had just fell asleep so i picked him up and moved him close to his log, 5 minutes later he was making his way back under the lamp and just went back to sleep again. is this normal?

Lizgirl will become famous soon enough
Reptiles are fairly good monitors of their heating needs. Did he eat a late meal? Heat helps them to digest. I wouldn't worry, unless other concerns pop up.
